Digital Storytelling Online Event: Sumissions Due Monday! Party Next Wednesday

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jmortonscott/4010964097/in/pool-techsoupIf you haven't done so already, you've got to check out the submissions we've received so far for the Digital Storytelling Online Event that's been open all month. You can see the video submissions on YouTube and check out the photo submissions on Flickr. There are some inspiring digital stories in there from nonprofits far and wide.

But don't worry. If you've not had time to get your five-photo story uploaded to Flickr or your 60-second video onto YouTube (you can also create a GoldMail story), there's still time. We've extended the Digital Storytelling Challenge deadline over the weekend so you've got until Monday morning (9 a.m. Pacific) to throw your digital stories into the proverbial ring.

Why, pray tell, should you bother? Well, aside from the great attention you'll get from all the people and organizations who are perusing them, you can also win some pretty cool prizes that will help you continue telling the stories that make a difference to your work and your communities. Flip Video has donated a camera. GoldMail has donated a subscriptions. We've also got MP3 players, so amazing video, audio, and production software from Adobe, and more. You don't want to miss out.

The winners  will be announced at an in-person  Digital Storytelling Screening and Awards Party at TechSoup's headquarters in San Francisco and "in-world" in  Second Life on Wednesday, October 21 at 7 p.m. Pacific. Join us at either (or both) events to watch the challenge submissions from feelow social changemakers and celebrate the success of their programs and their digital stories. Showcase your organization by getting your submission in by Monday!

There are no excuses:

"But wait, I've never made a video before. And I have no photo skills."

No experience is required! Whether you're a first-time storyteller or video veteran, we've got resources and tools from the webinar sessions here, here, and here, to help guide you along the way.

"I don't know if we have the time, or the budget, to do it."

The good news is that digital storytelling doesn't have to be expensive. We've listed a number of free and low cost tools you can use to create your story.

"Help! I'm trying to work on my digital story and I'm running into difficulty."

Never fear! Our expert hosts from the Digital Storytelling webinars will be available in the TechSoup forums during the challenge, so don't be shy about posting any questions you have.

If you would like to get in touch directly feel free to reach out to the TechSoup Team: tsdigs@techsoupglobal.org. We're here to help!
