Free Google Earth Outreach Event

Learn how your organization can use Google Earth Outreach and share your questions about this new online tool at a free NetSquared event next Tuesday evening in San Francisco.

The second Tuesday of each month, social changemakers and Web innovators get together to network, socialize, and share ideas at Net Tuesday, an event produced by NetSquared, a project of TechSoup.

This month's speaker will be Steve Miller, Product Manager of Google Earth Outreach, a program that enables nonprofit organizations around the world to leverage the power of Google Earth to illustrate and advocate for the important work that they do. The program includes robust online guides, video tutorials, and case studies on using Google Earth specifically targeted to the needs of nonprofit organizations.

Lots of nonprofits are using Google Earth to tell their stories. You can read about some specific groups' goals, challenges and best practices, and the overall impact of visualizing their work on Google Earth in the Google Earth Outreach Case Studies or in TechSoup's article Reach Out with Google Earth Outreach.

You can see more examples of how public-minded groups and individuals are using Google Earth to bring a valuable geographic context to their stories on the Google Earth Showcase.

Charitable organizations can also apply online for Google Earth Pro grants (a $400 value); grantees will receive additional technical support from Google.
