Need a RSS-t from RSS Overload?
Perhaps you've started using RSS feeds as a great way to manage and monitor the information you care about, from blog entries to news stories. Most RSS readers like Bloglines are sufficient when it comes to reading a small number of RSS feeds, but once you start monitoring numerous feeds, these handy RSS feeds can easily become cluttered and overwhelming.
So how do you keep yourself from RSS overload while still keeping up-to-date on many information streams? We've previously discussed AideRSS, an RSS filtering service to help highlight the most important and relevant content in your RSS feeds. Now InformationWeek reports on a similar service called FeedHub. FeedHub applies machine-learning by analyzing your RSS feeds to determine which feeds you read most often and which you tend to skip, and delivers a single news stream with only the content that best matches your content preferences. It offers an explanation of why each item was choosen and adapts over time to your viewing habits while also allowing you to adjust your preferences, as desired. This combination of machine and human logic could prove to be an effective way to keep information streams manageable and relevant.
