Twitter Me This, Twitter Me That: Applications for Twitter

I've blogged before about how Twitter can be used as an effective collaboration tool for your nonprofit. But there's many other ways to enhance what Twitter can do.

Here are several Twitter applications that you can make Twitter an increasingly useful social networking service:

• Twitter Track: Just as you can track "follow" other people on Twitter, now you can track any word or phrase on Twitter and be alerted each time one of your tracks is mentioned on Twitter
• Twitbin: A Firefox sidebar that lets you post updates and shows all of the recent Tweets from those you follow.
• Twitterbox: Post and receive tweets from within the virtual world of Second Life.
• Snitter: Twitter from your desktop using this Adobe AIR-powered application for twittering. You can also check out TechSoup's forum discussion on Snitter. If you're a Mac user, you can also try the similar, Mac-only application, Twitterific. More discussion on Twitterific.
