Giving Challenge Going Strong

Back in December, we blogged about America's Giving Challenge and the Causes Giving Challenge. With just a few weeks to go in the challenge, nonprofits are making the fundraising push using tools such as blogs, email, social networking, and widgets with the chance to win $50,000 for their organization.

The Causes Giving Challenge Facebook Application is continually updated, showing the daily fundraising leaders. Yet in addition to awards for top fundraisers, daily awards are given to the cause with the most unique donors in a 24-hour period. Therefore the challenge is not just to generate the most funds, but to also find ways of using 2.0 technologies and techniques to successfully motivate supporters.

NTEN blog highlights Scott Beale of Atlas Service Corps, who shares the fundraising dos and don'ts that have helped his organization secure a top position in the Global Causes category. He sees the contest as being a wonderful opportunity to bring awareness to smaller, less-visible organizations and encourage smaller donors:

America's Giving Challenge is also about empowering individuals to "vote" for causes they believe in, to show we can all make a difference, even $10 at a time.

It's not too late to join the challenge. Sign up for America's Giving Challenge or the Causes Giving Challenge and champion your cause, 2.0 style.
