Which Wiki is Right for You?
Wikis are one of those technologies that you probably never heard of a couple of years ago but are now everywhere.
A wiki is a collaborative Web site that anyone with access can edit. And while its most popular and famous expression is the collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia, there are lots of uses for this versatile platform. At TechSoup, wikis are used for editorial planning and other internal communications. Our Tech Glossary is also a wiki.
With about a gazillion of wiki programs out there, which one should you choose? TechSoup's article Exploring the World of Wikis and this article from the School Library Journal are good places to start. While the former identifies different types of wikis and examples of hosted and free wikis, the latter offers reviews of suitable options, plus a link to Wikimatrix, which is a portal to pretty much every wiki in the universe.
Hear what TechSoup community members have to say about what wikis they prefer and weigh in with your own opinion!
