A Better Way to Organize Your Photos

Anyone who's ever worked on a design or marketing piece for a nonprofit can understand the frustration of searching for appropriate photos on a tight deadline.

If you've ever spent hours poring through organization image files labeled 1358.jpg, 1359.jpg, and 1360.jpg (and so on) looking for a picture to feature on a poster or a brochure, you have probably thought to yourself that there has to be a better way to organize your photos. And guess what — there is!

Online photo-sharing sites like Flickr allow you to store and organize your photos online. You can keep these photos private, share them with a select group of individuals, or display them for all the world to see. The site's Group features can allow several people from around the org to pool photos — handy when several people are taking photos at the same event — and the site's uploading tools and features allow you to name and tag your photos as you upload them, making them easy to find during eleventh-hour marketing projects. Dating features mean you'll never be left wondering if that image was from this year's benefit or last year's.

If you're interested in learning more about how photo-sharing sites can help your organization, watch the video from CommonCraft, below, which highlights the benefits of online photo-sharing over traditional methods and walks you through the basics of uploading, sharing, and commenting on photos.
