Microsoft Accounting Pro 2008 — New Features
For organizations still looking to make a decision about their accounting software, Microsoft’s latest version of Accounting Pro (available to qualifying organizations on TechSoup Stock) is worth considering.
Accounting Pro 2008 is geared toward organizations with 25 or fewer employees, a market traditionally held by Intuit Quickbooks (also available to qualifying organizations on TechSoup Stock). Though the two perform many of the same functions, Accounting Pro has new features that could prove useful, including:
- Shared contact databases with Outlook 2007.
- Tighter integration with Excel to import data through multiple templates.
- English and Spanish modes that can allow simultaneous access of the same data from multiple workstations.
- Automatic synchronization of books with accountants, and the ability to view data remotely via Office Live.
Accounting Pro 2008 also imports data from Quickbooks for those with it already installed and wanting to transfer. For more in-depth reviews of the benefits of Accounting Pro 2008 and how it differs from Quickbooks, see the articles in Small Business Computing and CRN Australia.
