GreenNonprofits.org Profile

GreenNonprofit.org is a cool organization whose sole mission is to create and support the global movement that educates, assists, and certifies Nonprofits/NGOs in becoming environmentally friendly. So, if your organization is looking to (or has become) greener, this could be a great resource to help encourage buy-in, as well as a convenient way to get certification as a Green Nonprofit.

As a membership driven organization with annual dues ranging from $25 per year for individuals and $125 as an institution, members are provided both online and offline greening programs and also the GreenNonprofit's eNewsletter. As a new member, you start a profile of your baseline green practices, then work through a process to make enough changes and document your green efforts until you earn 100 points on GreenNonprofit’s scale. You can then be eligible to apply for full Green Nonprofit Certification.

The Green Nonprofit Certification Program involves downloading and filling out an 18 page checklist form, and then submitting it to GreenNonprofits for certification. Certification is for two years. The program features a no-cost pledge to "become more aware, to practice, and to promote a healthy environment." The Web site also features Green Office Webinars and green office supplies from TheGreenOffice.com, like recycled content copy paper, biodegradable cups, refiilable pens and other office store type supplies.
