Softchoice EcoTech: Commercial Green IT
As a nonprofit manager looking for good places to buy IT equipment that meets our ever-greening needs, Softchoice is one of the best commercial green IT sites I've seen. What is Softchoice? They're an online computer hardware and software vendor, but one with particularly good green IT content and products in the EcoTech portion of their Web site.
The site features EPEAT-rated hardware. EPEAT is the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool and is a noncommercial program that rates how environmental new computer equipment is in a bronze, silver, gold tiers.
It also has content and products on paper-reducing technologies, data center efficiency, PC power management, travel reduction technology, and it has a section on green computer disposal. In addition, they have plans for a section on Green IT Training & Events so keep an eye out for it.
