Request 'Green IT' for TreeHugger's Green Index

TreeHugger is one of the top environmental information portals on the internet and is a great resource for individuals and organizations working to go greener at home and at the office. Its particular mission is drive sustainability mainstream. It is designed to be a one-stop-shop for green news and product information so it covers many areas like transportation, science, technology, design, architecture, culture, travel, food, business, politics, fashion etc etc. One of the interesting aspects of the Treehugger’s editorial style is its mix of light funny stories with more hard core environmental degradation content.

The new Green Index, gauges media mentions of green topics of interest and tracks statistics about how much collective 'mindshare' certain concepts have compared to the previous week. If you click on an entry, you can read recent new stories on that particular topic.

Unfortunately for those of us in the green IT and nonprofit technology industries, our subject areas haven't yet made the list so there's no way to know how "sticky" our stories or work will be within the media or whether concepts like refurbished computers or e-cycling office equipment are making an impact in the collective public mind.

If enough folks email and request to add 'Green IT' to the list of topics they track on their Green Index from week to week, it could really help us understand whether our messages are making it through the muck and into the minds of mainstream readers.
