Google Offers New Search Feature for Smaller Web Sites
Many small- and medium-sized organizations rely on a free version of Google Search on their Web sites. Though this often means better search functionality than a custom solution, search results display Google ads and may take readers away from your site.
Enter Google's new Custom Search Business Edition, which "adds Google-type indexing and customized-search capabilities" to your Web site, according to an article in eWeek.com.
For $100 a year, you can index up to 5,000 pages; adding the search functionality only takes minutes and a few lines of code. Moreover, Google will provide customer support by phone or email, notes eWeek, adding that competing services often cost thousands of dollars or require IT support to install or maintain.
