Latest Blog Discovery: Cause Global
Periodically we here at TechSoup like to share what we're reading. The latest blog gem that I've added to my feed reader is Cause Global, a blog which covers social media for social change and the people involved in using technology tools to make the world a better place.
One of the recent posts that caught my eye addressed the repeated media censorship efforts by the Chinese government which the ongoing Olympic Games have made all the more apparent. Amnesty International is responding with the Uncensor Campaign to fight against Internet censorship. In partnership with the Australian Facebook Cause group, the campaign calls for an end to human rights violations and censorship of media and Internet in China. Supporters can get involved in local and global efforts using a variety of online tools, from campaign badges to petitions to Internet site testing.
But China is far from being the only entity seeking to suppress digital media — censoring and otherwise limiting access to Internet and media channels is on the rise internationally, so it's heartening to see efforts like this fighting to make information freely accessible to all. Be sure to check out the campaign and don't forget to add Cause Global to your blog reading list!
