Google Analytics for Nonprofits: Tutorial from Frogloop

Google Analytics buttonIn Care2's latest update to Frogloop — their nonprofit communications and marketing blog and newsletter — they've got a great step-by-step overview and tutorial of how to use Google Analytics to track your organization's Web traffic.

It appears to be part 1 of a series of posts that will cover the basics of installing Google Analytics and later posts will walk through how to define goals and optimize features offered by the tool. With that in mind, it's probably a good blog to bookmark if you're using the tool or planning to do so in the future.

I use Google Analytics to track the effectiveness of this blog, comparing which posts got the most traffic and where people enter and exit our site. It's useful information when developing broader marketing strategies like where to spend money on ads or whether your site is "sticky" for its readers. It's helpful to think about more ways I could be using it to measure our success (or lack of it!) It's made me rethink how I'm using Analytics and hopefully I'll have new ways to maximize its usefulness down the road with more of their tips.

Check out the post and keep your eyes peeled for more from Frogloop on the same topic. While you're at it, you may want to subscribe to their newsletter or RSS feed for more useful tips for nonprofit marketing and communications as well.
