SF Online Community Report MeetUp with Wikimedia
These days, the free, collective knowledge sharing of Wikipedia is rivaling encyclopedias when it comes to providing information. But the folks at Wikimedia Foundation who operate Wikipedia have a number of other wiki-based projects designed to help further the development of multi-lingual, freely available content. Come learn more about these at the next SF Online Community MeetUp, on Wed. Oct. 22, where our guest speaker will be Brion Vibber, CTO of Wikimedia Foundation.
Brion will talk about the wiki-based projects Wikimedia Foundation is involved with (including Wikipedia) and the online communities that develop around them. Brion's presentation will kick off an informal, tool-based discussion on wikis and other community and collaboration platforms.
The fourth Wednesday of the month is the free monthly gathering of online community managers, enthusiasts, and innovators to meet and discuss tools and strategies for building and managing effective communities.
