Test your Broadband Connection with Speedtest.net
Speedtest.net is a Web site that tests how fast your broadband connection uploads and downloads information, and is worth trying. It is very easy to use — just click on the recommended spot on the map and it will test your connection, then compare your results to state, national, and international averages.
At home I use AT&T DSL, which I am sorry to report is slower — both for me and for the ISP as a whole — than the California and the national averages. That didn't surprise me: I had suspected the performance was getting worse for some months. Now, however, when I gripe to my provider, I have some evidence.
