Need Some Help (Desk)?
How do you keep track of the tech issues that need attention in your organization? Many small organizations and businesses have found all manner of ad-hoc ways to make a "help desk" for themselves.
Jaketha Farmer of the Lamar County Public Library informed TechSoup's MaintainIT Project about Ilent Sysaid, a no-cost application that she's been using to take in and track support requests from her library staff.
The freely downloadable version of this help desk application supports up to 100 users and two application administrators. You need you own Web server to install it on. Once you have it up and running, you can take advantage of features such as support issue knowledge base, IT inventory, and reporting.
And you're wondering about the MaintainIT Project and its effort to help public libraries with their public computer maintenance, check out the Web site.
