Webinar Recap: Introduction to Social Media and Fundraising
Thanks to everyone who participated in this morning's TechSoup Talks webinar! You can now view the slide presentation, the list of resources, and listen to the recording by clicking here: https://cc.readytalk.com/cc/schedule/display.do?udc=iqy4hh8ybtxm
John Haydon and Chris Garrett gave a terrific presentation, outlining how to get started using social media and how to fundraise with your supporters in these new tools. They gave some great tips, useful models and examples of nonprofits that have successfully raised money for their causes, and some sage advice about how to jump right in.
Some of my favorite highlights were:
- "Don't think too much. It doesn't have to be perfect so just jump right in!"
- Blogging can be a great way to get started
- Discussion of different types of Facebook pages, Causes, Fan pages, and what the benefits of each are
- Social bookmarking sites like Digg and Reddit
- Using Twitter effectively as an organization
- How to search and find your communities in these new media
- ... and much, much more!
Check out the archives for more details and feel free to use this community forums thread to ask any specific questions you have about using social media to engage your communities of supporters AND raise money.
