New TechSoup Partnership Brings Software to NGOs in India
Nonprofit organizations in India will now have greater access to technology thanks to BiG Tech, a new initiative between the India-based NASSCOM Foundation and TechSoup.
BiG Tech will assist charities and NGOs in India by offering them access to software donation programs from donor partner Microsoft through a Web-based program similar to TechSoup Stock.
“Technology, in our ‘flattened world’, can help NGOs create regional, national and even global awareness about their activities," said Saurabh Srivastava, Chairman of the NASSCOM Foundation.
"This heightened awareness can, in turn, lead to a rise in public attention, interest, and action on behalf of causes. One of the barriers to technology for NGOs is affordability of technology products. BiG Tech is perfectly suited to address this issue of access to affordable technology, which is the most critical spoke in the wheel."
