About

Jim Lynch is Computer Recycling & Reuse Director for TechSoup's GreenTech Program.

Favorite Web Sites
  • Plug In to eCycling, a great, but little-known EPA electronics recycling site.
  • Babelfish. I'd have a hard time living without this site. I get emails from all over the world in different languages and Babelfish let's me know instantly what they say. If I keep it short, I can even write back.
  • Refurbishers Listserv. Couldn't resist doing a shameless plug for the listserv where over 200 computer refurbishers from around the world talk shop.
Nonprofits I Admire
  • Electronics Takeback Coalition, the place I go to get electronics recycling policy information and updates.
  • Global Citizen Center, Kevin Danaher's project to organize the grassroots green economy.
  • Freecycle, the ultimate reuse site where everything is free.
  • Wiser Earth. The place where Paul Hawken's Natural Capital Institute has compiled an online database of tens of thousands of people and organizations in the social justice and environmentalism movements. Hawken describes this as the largest movement on earth that functions as humankind's immune system, which is ushering in the next axial age of environmental consciousness. I fervently hope he's right.
Current Technology Obsession

Junk computers.

Geekiest Moment

Getting my eight-year-old PC to do everything a new PC can do.

Technology Words of Wisdom

OK. Don't read the manual.

Favorite Soup
