Arbeiter Samariter Bund

Donation Helps Improve Planning for Austrian Social Services Organization

The local Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) group Graz operates in and around the city of Graz, Austria. It runs two rescue service centers and seven social service and competence centers for the elderly. The paramedics respond to approximately 30,000 requests for help each year. These include rescue efforts, child-related emergencies, and transport of hospital patients, the elderly, and the handicapped. The organization also trains paramedics and conducts first-aid training for the public.

Services for the elderly include out-patient care as well as long-term and short-term care and transitional care. Furthermore, the nonprofit develops infrastructure for emergencies in the region, helps to set up special task forces in case of disaster, and provides transnational help in case of emergency.

Through Stifter-helfen.at IT for Nonprofits, the donation program of the TechSoup Global Network in Austria, ASB Graz received a comprehensive Microsoft package consisting of Windows 7, Office 2010, Microsoft Project, and Visio. The software donation improved general workflow and processes in assignment scheduling, resource planning, and general administration, particularly in managing meetings and handling documents. In general, the IT donations helped the nonprofit significantly improve its planning processes, appointment management, and internal communication.
