The project is supported by the German Association for Public and Private Welfare, which is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth. The portal provides a wealth of information on education, democracy, health, culture, social topics, sports, and environment while offering virtual discussion rooms that users can create themselves. The portal provides nationwide information for people who want to be active citizens.
The portal's easy-to-grasp structure provides the latest news and information on projects and events taking place in the civic engagement arena. It speaks to motivated individuals with a civil society, business, and government background. Their diverse communications and information needs are consolidated on the portal. This provides an opportunity for synergy and linking of relevant discourses, offers, and information.
Since the home page of the portal is the focal point of the project, it was important to make the site appealing and contemporary. With the donation of Adobe Flash, received from Stifter-helfen.de,IT for Nonprofits, the German partner of the TechSoup Global Network, this is now possible.
