Garden of Hope Foundation

Services for Abused Taiwanese Girls Enhanced by Software Donation

The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) works to end sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, and domestic violence. In particular it focuses on reaching girls who are in the sex industry, are victims of sexual abuse, or family violence. Many of the foundation's clients have been subjected to multiple forms of abuse.

Based in Taipei, GOH provides services from 30 offices around Taiwan. The programs have grown from one halfway house to shelters and service centers island-wide. The locations provide everything from counseling and temporary housing to employment training social work and legal aid. They also have outreach programs for at-risk teenagers as well as services for immigrant spouses and family counseling.

GOH received a donation of Microsoft products from TechSoup-Taiwan, the IT donation program of Frontier Foundation, a TechSoup Global Network partner. These donations helped GOH to work more efficiently and to have a smoother workflow. Before the donation, communication and collaboration between the 30 offices was a challenge. The internal document approval process took one to two weeks. After receiving the donation, GOH used SharePoint to set up a portal for multinode communication. Now its HR and procurement decisions are signed within two days, and the staff can share files and information more quickly.
