Glide Keeps Flying High with Software Donations
For more than 40 years, the Glide Foundation has been a haven for the poor and those living on the margins of society. The San Francisco–based organization describes itself as radically inclusive, welcoming everyone and offering support to create positive change.
Each year the foundation serves nearly 1 million meals and helps about 7,000 people with housing, shelter, job placement, health services, and more. The Glide Foundation provides these services with a $17 million budget, 165 staff members, and upwards of 25,000 volunteers per year.
The glue that holds Glide's operations together is the hardware and software received from TechSoup and its donor partners. The foundation relies on Cisco hardware for its VoIP phone system. A newsletter created with Adobe Creative Suite keeps donors and volunteers up-to-date on the foundation's progress and needs. And Microsoft software such as Windows Server, Exchange Server, and Office keep the nonprofit's computers networked and enable staff to communicate and collaborate.
