Software Donations Aid Disadvantaged Children Across Asia

Kokkyo naki Kodomotachi (Children without Borders) supports disadvantaged children and youth in Asia who are on the street, are victims of trafficking, forced labor, and natural disasters or are in conflict with the law.

In September 2000, when the organization launched its first project, 10 boys were housed in its House for Youth in Battambang, Cambodia. Today more than 2,000 children and adolescent boys and girls benefit from the organization's support in Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, East Timor, Jordan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

Part of KnK's mission is also to build international awareness, cooperation, and friendship among Asian youth. Its projects in Japan focus on educating and connecting Japanese youth with the young people KnK serves outside of Japan.

Through TechSoup Japan, operated by TechSoup Global Network partner Japan NPO Center, KnK received a donation of 15 Microsoft Office 2007 licenses and Adobe CS4 Design Premium software. Before the donation, the organization was using old software, which caused problems when the staff tried to share files externally. Having the new software helped the office to run more efficiently and to create beautifully designed posters, brochures, catalogs, and web pages.
