The Mexican Kidney Foundation provides Mexicans with timely access to renal treatment through the development of medical research programs and prevention campaigns. Its mission is to improve the lives of Mexicans living with kidney disease. It promotes prevention, treatment, and advancement of knowledge in the field. Every dollar the organization receives is directed towards improving the lives of those who suffer from kidney disease, leaving little in its budget for software. "For us to be able to store and use information correctly, we need to be able to count on the right software tools. Tools that are easy to use and up-to-date," says Jesus Daniel Solis Dimas, coordinator of the dialysis support program.
The foundation faces a very common problem among NGOs; its resources are directed towards its beneficiaries, making it really difficult to even think about the kind of software that would make operations more efficient. Fortunately, the Mexican Kidney Foundation found OSC Digital, the donation program of Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía, the Mexican partner of the TechSoup Global Network, and got all the software it needed at a significant savings. Through OSC Digital, the Mexican Kidney Foundation obtained Microsoft Office to help bring newsletters, presentations, posters, purchase orders, drug inventories, manuals, and stories to life.
