Software Donations Help Nonprofit Succeed in Supporting Women with Breast Cancer
In 2000, a breast cancer survivor recognized that there were many non-medical needs of women who were battling breast cancer. After paying for medical care and prescriptions, many patients are not able to afford basic needs for their family like food, rent, or child care. Northwest Hope and Healing Foundation was founded to provide assistance and encouragement to women and their families throughout the Pacific Northwest while the women undergo breast and gynecological cancer treatment. The foundation's goal is to support the healing process and to help individuals feel whole again.
Starting from scratch, the foundation needed to create a professional look without a big budget. NHHF's sole part-time employee utilized the Microsoft Office 2003 donation to reach this goal. The software helps the employee to design flyers and brochures in Publisher, professional documents in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint; draft emails with Outlook; and track donors in Excel. The foundation hosts fundraising events, communicates effectively with donors, and maintains a professional appearance without great cost.
