Tech Donations Boost Kids' Football Team and Spirit Squad
The Tucson Youth Football and Spirit Federation is an organization that encourages the development of youth with the help of adult leaders. Offering both flag and tackle football and spirit squad programs, TYFSF teaches children the importance of athleticism and teamwork.
Associated with the national American Youth Football league, TYFSF adopts its belief that all kids deserve equal opportunities, special attention, and respect. The organization encourages wholesome competitiveness and is an all-inclusive program, believing that academic skills can be enhanced through athletics. The program has been in existence since 1969 and is now made up of 16 associations. In 2010 it had over 3,500 participants in its 100 football teams and 100 spirit squads.
The organization relies on more than 2,000 adult volunteers who assist with various aspects of the program. TYFSF received donations from Sage and Microsoft through TechSoup. With Microsoft Office, TYFSF has been able to advance its communications efforts. Using Sage Peachtree, the organization has improved its accounting practices.
