What started as one woman's tireless advocacy on behalf of women and families living with HIV/AIDS is now Christie's Place. The organization provides services to assist women and families with children in maintaining and improving their health in the face of HIV/AIDS. Founded in 2009, Christie's Place receives more than 8,500 visits and serves 1,100 clients annually with its small staff of 11.
Key to the organization's growth and success, despite its small grassroots nature, is TechSoup's software donation program. A donation of Microsoft Office Suite software has been integral to Christie's Place. The programs within Microsoft Office allow Christie's Place staff to to maintain client and service records, compile accurate and detailed reports for donors and stakeholders, and create educational materials. The organization also uses Microsoft Office software to promote client self-empowerment through computer literacy.
With Christie's Place making the most of its Microsoft software donation, it's no wonder it is among San Diego County's leading nonprofit social service organizations.
