Software Donation Helps Lesewelt Ortenau Share Joy of Literacy

Lesewelt Ortenauin the Ortenau district of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, has been making reading fun for kids since 2005. The organization works with children up to the age of 12 by strengthening their language and comprehension skills through regular library storytime events, storytelling workshops for children, community activity days, and an annual children's reading fest.

Creating so many opportunities to expose children to the wonderful world of reading requires organization and funding. With donations of Microsoft software from Stifter-helfen.de, a member of the TechSoup Global Network, Lesewelt Ortenau was able to improve its organizational efficiency by extending its IT infrastructure from one computer workstation to three. Working with Stifter-helfen.de also resulted in the acquisition of GiftWorks, fundraising software that lets Lesewelt Ortenau track donations and send more targeted donation requests.
