Donated Software Helps Chamber of Commerce Boost Impact

The National City Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization located in National City, part of San Diego County, California. The NCCC works to improve the National City business climate and quality of life through advocacy, education, and business growth. It serves more than 600 members and represents more than 2,500 businesses. It also functions as a visitor's information center for the region; it is known as the unified voice of businesses and is a major partner in planning the future of the community.

In 2008, NCCC needed to upgrade its computers. After receiving computer donations from the San Diego Futures Foundation, the NCCC still needed the most up-to-date software. Through TechSoup, the organization received it through the Microsoft and Adobe donation programs. Microsoft Outlook helps the NCCC transmit important information via email to its members. Excel and Access 2007 have improved its capacity to contact its stakeholders via phone, email, and direct mail. Using Excel in conjunction with Word, the NCCC can easily create mailing labels for its monthly mailers. Staff now develops all marketing and communication materials in-house using Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop.
