What's New with QuickBooks Online in 2026?

Thousands of nonprofits rely on Intuit QuickBooks Online to keep track of their income and expenses, report on their finances, and prepare for IRS Form 990. It's one of the most popular offers in the TechSoup product catalog.

Since Form 990 season is quickly approaching for organizations with December 31 fiscal year-ends, we thought that we'd take a minute to run through the QuickBooks Online products available through TechSoup, plus some related services to help you get the most out of your financial management and planning efforts.

QuickBooks Online Plus

An excellent option for many nonprofits, QuickBooks Online Plus gives you just about everything you need to manage your organization's finances. It has the following capabilities:

• Create a chart of accounts that categorizes and views expenses the way IRS Form 990 requires.
• Draft reports that show how much money has been contributed and spent to date by donor or by grant.
• Plan budgets based on fundraising and expense data and comparing actual income and expenses to budgeted amounts.
• Use business planning and analysis tools, such as the Statement of Financial Income & Expense.
• Organize tax, donor, vendor, employee, and general company information in separate centers while allowing an accountant to simultaneously work on the system.

QuickBooks Online Plus comes with five users, so it's a good choice for small and medium-sized nonprofits. Eligible nonprofits can request a one-year QuickBooks Online Plus subscription for an $80 admin fee. Get QuickBooks Online Plus.

QuickBooks Online Advanced

If you need more users or additional features, QuickBooks Online Advanced is for you. It includes all the features in QuickBooks Online Plus, along with a custom-report tool, more flexible user permissions (useful if you want staff members to be able to view your financial data without editing it), and unlimited access to online training resources.

Each QuickBooks Online Advanced subscription comes with 25 users. Eligible organizations can get a one-year subscription from TechSoup for a $170 admin fee. Get QuickBooks Online Advanced.

New Features in QuickBooks Online

Like many software companies that offer subscription-based products, Intuit rolls out new features on an ongoing basis.

QuickBooks Online now features a selection of AI-powered tools, including AI agents, which Intuit calls Intuit Assist. These new AI tools can help you ensure the accuracy of your bookkeeping, monitor your cash flow, and more.
