The mission of Yakima Valley Pet Rescue (YVPR) is to rescue and care for unwanted pets and find them permanent homes. The shelter also educates the community on the importance of pet population control, animal safety, and pet training. In less than a decade, YVPR has become the largest volunteer-run, no-kill shelter in the Yakima Valley region.
A donation of Microsoft Office has helped YVPR fulfill its mission. Volunteers have used Office to create flyers, brochures, newsletters, and a website to generate awareness of YVPR's work. The software is also used by volunteers to connect and collaborate with each other. Office has enabled YVPR to create and standardize its records and to develop educational materials such as a PowerPoint presentation for school-aged children. The donated software even led to the creation of one of the group's most effective tools for finding pets forever homes — pet biographies.
