Youth Association Empowered by IT Donations
In October 2012, 10 young volunteers joined together to create A4Action (Association for Initiatives and Continuing Development). Since then, they have successfully written and implemented several intercultural youth exchange programs.
Their mission is to promote culture, art, and Romanian tourism through educational programs. Moreover, they actively support protection of the environment, volunteerism, and non-formal education as a key for personal development.
"Now, we don't have any employees. We are a team of 10 volunteers, and what we do within the organization is our way of contributing to the society's development," says Iuliana Pavel, programs coordinator.
Because they work mostly with young people, they have to keep up with new technology and to be where everyone is: online, on social media. They use all the online tools to create offline communities.
With the help of TechSoup Romania, they were able to access the Windows software that they needed in their daily work. Being able to access affordable technology has made a huge difference in the organization because they lack financial support from donors.
"Each coin is important for us. Part of those 724 dollars we've saved with this acquisition were reinvested in several association projects," concludes Pavel.
