Software Donations Aid Battle Against Child Labor
ACE (Action Against Child Exploitation) is a nonprofit based in Tokyo, Japan, that works to eradicate child labor around the world. ACE was established in 1997 to organize Japan's role in the Global March Against Child Labor, which was held in 107 countries around the world. Since then, ACE has focused on raising awareness of child labor issues in Japan and worldwide.
ACE works in four primary areas: raising public awareness of child labor issues, advocating policy to the Japanese government and private companies to prevent child labor, building alliances and networking with other NGOs, and cooperating with international organizations working to eradicate child labor, such as Child Friendly Village, an Indian program that prevents child labor through community involvement.
With a limited budget and 7 staff members, 2 interns, and 80 volunteers, ACE depends on an up-to-date IT infrastructure to achieve its mission. With the help of Japan NPO Center, a TechSoup Global Network partner, ACE was able to obtain donations of Microsoft Office 2007 to generate professional-looking presentation materials.
