Donated Software Helps German Group Wage War Against Child Poverty
Children for a Better World was founded in 1994 based on the principle "Mit Kindern. Für Kinder!" (With children. For children!). The association supports projects in Germany and beyond that fight poverty and improve the living conditions of children and adolescents in need. The organization has collected donations of more than $30 million.
Children for a Better World funds daily warm meals for children growing up in poverty throughout Germany. The organization encourages community-mindedness in children and adolescents. Children can join the organization's advisory boards and thus are directly involved in the decision-making process. In addition its initiative Jugend Hilft (Youth helps!) promotes social engagement of children and adolescents.
Stifter-helfen.de IT for Nonprofits, TechSoup Global Network partner in Germany, provided Children for a Better World a comprehensive Microsoft package including Windows 7, the latest version of Office Small Business Server, and Project Professional. The installation of Exchange Server turned out to be a quantum leap for the organization. Most employees have different working hours and locations and are now able to work anytime and from anywhere. The technology upgrade has improved the flexibility and efficiency of the organization and enhanced the morale of the staff.
