FPAI Reaches More Indian Mothers and Children Thanks to Software Donations
Family Planning Association of India is the leading and largest sexual and reproductive health organization in India. It provides information on sex education and family life and a range of services in sexual and reproductive health, including family planning, safe abortions, and HIV/AIDS. FPA India operates 44 branches and programs in 17 states, covering a population of nearly 24 million people. The organization provides nearly 4 million services to more than 1 million poor and disadvantaged clients per year. FPA India was established in 1949 and is a founding member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation.
Since registering in 2007 with BiGTech — the donation platform run by NASSCOM Foundation, TechSoup Global's partner in India — FPA India has received a wide range of Microsoft software donations. These include Exchange Server, SharePoint Server, SQL Server, Windows Server, Windows Operating System Upgrade, and Office Professional Plus. The donated software has reduced communications costs and improved productivity and collaboration among the organization's far-flung staff. Microsoft Exchange provides the organization with email, calendar, and contacts so that employees can stay connected and in-sync on multiple platforms.
FPA India staff members also attended a BIGTech ConnectIT workshop, where they learned to use Word features such as Format Painter and Mail Merge and Excel features such as Goal Seek, Data Validation, and Conditional Formatting to make more effective presentations and showcase the organization's work.
