Free Rein Therapeutic Riding Provides Therapy Riding for Many
Free Rein Therapeutic Riding is a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) riding center based in Spokane, Wash. Free Rein Therapeutic Riding helps people with a variety of diagnoses every week. The organization offers adaptive riding and horsemanship programs as a part of its therapy. It offers its services to both children as young as four and adults.
Working with horses can build riders' confidence and help them surpass not only physical, but also mental and emotional challenges. Free Rein now serves more than 100 riders a year with eight of its amazing horses. Through the positive, collaborative environment established in Free Rein's programs, families, volunteers, and riders can feel safe and have fun.
Along with its adaptive riding program, Free Reign also offers a military horsemanship program. This program supports military veterans by providing therapeutic riding lessons in a safe environment. Veterans often are challenged by physical ailments or conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Free Rein Therapeutic Riding participated in the Storymakers 2016 campaign. Through its video submission, the organization shared its beautiful story and impact. With the help of multiple volunteers, sponsors, and of course, the horses, Free Rein is able to effectively change the lives of its participants one step at a time.
