Software Donations Allow Habitat for Humanity to Help Families
In Monroe County, Indiana, one in five people lives in poverty. Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County (HHMC) aims to eliminate poverty by building simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with families in need. Through the work of thousands of volunteers and organizations, HHMC has built more than 100 homes.
Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County strives to keep its operating costs low so that it can serve as many families as possible. Software donations from Microsoft acquired through TechSoup have enabled it to upgrade to a physical server hosting four virtual servers. This new, top-notch system helps its staff work much more efficiently. The value of the donation would have been nearly half the cost of a home for a struggling family.
