Australian Indigenous Families Transition to Brighter Futures with DonorTec

"Kurbingui" is the word for the transition of a boy into a man, in the language of the indigenous Turrabul tribe of Australia. The Kurbingui Youth Development Association Inc. (KYDAI) endeavors to help youth and their families transition into self-supporting people.

Operating in the Brisbane region of Australia, KYDAI serves the area's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families through programs for indigenous and non-indigenous youth, designed to alleviate isolation, poverty, discrimination, and unemployment.

Although KYDAI started as an employment and training program, the scope of its projects has grown to include sports and recreation activities, community development, and the publication of a community newspaper The Kurbingui Star.

KYDAI's evolution has been supported by software donations from DonorTec, a donation program of Connecting Up, a member of the TechSoup Global Network. Through DonorTec, KYDAI received Microsoft Business Server andclient access licensesfor better networking, and Microsoft Windows and Office for training and programming purposes.
