Donated Software Helps Aussie Group Aiding Families with Premature Babies

Life's Little Treasures Foundation (LLTF) is an Australian charity dedicated to providing support, friendship, and assistance to families of children born sick or premature.

Premature birth is the most frequent cause of death of newborn babies in Australia. More than 45,000 babies a year are admitted into neonatal intensive and special care units. LLTF serves families with premature or sick babies while they are in the hospital and when they bring their baby home. The foundation's volunteers provide both practical and emotional support to families. LLTF also creates specially tailored hospital resource packs for families, supports research, provides funding for hospital equipment, and helps families with the transition from the hospital to the home environment.

Through Connecting Up Australia, TechSoup's global partner in Australia, and the Microsoft Donation Program, LLTF was able to obtain Microsoft Office Professional Plus licenses. The donated software is used to create newsletters, booklets, and other printed materials and has generally helped staff members communicate and collaborate more effectively.

LLTF also received My Books Manager Executive, a product of InfoTec Communications, which helps to coordinate meetings. Many of these functions had previously been performed on paper, which took up a lot of valuable volunteer time.
