Tech Donations Improve Communications for Youth Foundation Serving Nepal

Stichting Youth in Nepal (sYin) is the co-founder of a children's home in Pokhara, Nepal that cares for 30 children affected by war. Although the children's ages range from 3 to 14, they've all lost their fathers to war and have mothers who can no longer care for them properly because of the income lost by their husbands' deaths. The children are lovingly cared for by a staff of six in addition to two volunteers.

Since it got off the ground in 2005, the one-person foundation is convinced that development is achieved through collaboration with local people and organizations. Consequently, the children's home is run by a Nepalese organization and Nepalese staff, often assisted by Dutch volunteers. Stichting Youth in Nepal provides the children with homes and financial support, while assisting a local organization in both word and deed.

The foundation's plans for the future include building a clinic and providing scholarships for the children that age out of its care.

sYin received multiple software donations through TechSoup Netherlands, a program jointly managed with SOCIALware ASBL, a TechSoup Global Partner. By improving the efficiency of the organization's communications, the staff has more time and resources to support the children's home in Pokhara.
