A Gift for Teaching

A Gift for Teaching Helps Teachers and Students Teach and Learn Effectively

Teachers, on average, spend $500 to $1,000 out of their own pockets every year to provide basic school supplies for their students. A Gift for Teaching is a wonderful nonprofit based in central Florida that works to meet this need. A Gift for Teaching is the primary provider of free school supplies in the region.

Students who cannot afford basic learning tools are at a significant disadvantage. By providing free supplies, this organization supports more equal education.

In addition to providing free school supplies, A Gift for Teaching runs educational programs that include A Gift for Music, Crafts with Conviction, and School SmARTS. Each of these programs integrates music and arts education that expands the scope of learning past the schools' core curriculum. Through these programs, low-income and urban youth have the chance to develop skills in the arts in an encouraging, positive learning environment.

A Gift for Teaching was one of 600 organizations that participated in the Storymakers 2016 campaign. Through its video, the organization shared its story, mission, and social impact on communities across central Florida.
