Senior Services for South Sound

Software Donations Boost Senior Services Agency

Senior Services for South Sound provides an array of services to seniors in the Olympia, Washington region to help them maintain their independence. The agency offers classes, physical activities, meal delivery service, long-term care planning, family support groups, and other services. Senior Services has grown rapidly since it was founded in 1973, and with the population of those over 65 projected to increase by 194 percent by 2015, the ability to adapt is key.

Donations of Microsoft Office have played a key role in helping Senior Services meet its mission and expand its services. The agency deploys Access and Excel to coordinate the activities of 150 volunteers and 98 staff members. The software is used to track more than 13,000 meals from preparation to delivery.

Staff members use Microsoft Outlook to schedule meetings and keep in touch with each other. They use Microsoft Word to draft stories, letters, and other printed materials that support the agency's work. And Senior Services uses PowerPoint, Publisher, and FrontPage to share news of its work with donors and the public. Microsoft Office is not just software, it's the thing that makes all of the necessary caring possible.
