SPCA of Franklin County

Donated Technology Aids All-Volunteer Animal Protection Group

The primary mission of the SPCA of Franklin County, North Carolina, is to reduce the overpopulation of companion animals in the county. To accomplish this goal, the all-volunteer organization advocates for and provides low-cost spay and neuter services.

It also rescues pets, places them in permanent homes, and provides animal care and welfare education.

Despite working with a shoestring budget of $7,000, the SPCA of Franklin County has some big dreams. It plans to open a Pet Pantry for low-income pet owners and to provide fences for dogs on chains.

Donations of Microsoft software are helping to realize these dreams. Microsoft Office, in conjunction with the XP operating system, have helped streamline the SPCA's internal operations and generate newsletters, flyers, and other marketing materials to promote awareness of the group's work. GiftWorks has helped to track donations and donors, issue receipts and thank-you notes, and maintain email lists.
