Software Donations Support Polish NGO's Mission to Save Sick Children
Wielka Orkiestra Swiatecznej Pomocy (The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation) works to save and improve the lives of sick people, especially children. By organizing fundraising events, the NGO is able to buy and donate specialized medical equipment for Polish hospitals that don't have the necessary funds to upgrade. It also runs five nationwide medical programs that serve children, as well as an education program.
The WOSP Foundation is most often associated with a January fundraising event called the Grand Finale. Each year, the Grand Finale raises money for a different cause, such as enabling children's heart surgery, saving child accident victims, and saving children with kidney disease. In 2009, for example,the Grand Finale raised more than $11 million to support early cancer diagnosis for children.
Through TechSoup Global partner BDR, the WOSP Foundation received Microsoft products including Office Professional and a Windows upgrade. The donations enabled the organization to improve the quality of its work and made all of its software compatible and legal.
