World Food Program USA Supports a Vision of a World Without Hunger
One in nine people on the planet go to bed hungry every day. In 2014, 48.1 million Americans lived in food-insecure households, and 15.3 million of them were children (according to Feeding America). World Food Program USA is an organization that works to combat this. World Food Program USA is the U.S. branch of the United Nations World Food Programme, which is the largest humanitarian agency fighting global hunger.
World Food Program USA works to
- Ensure food security for those who are food insecure
- Promote gender equality to improve women's access to food
- Ensure resilience against natural disasters
- Support nutrition for women and children all around the world
This amazing organization affects the lives of millions, providing hope to communities affected by natural disasters, refugees surviving conflict, and families living in extreme poverty. World Food Program USA works on the ground, directly providing food assistance and support to those in need.
World Food Program USA participated in the Storymakers 2016 campaign, sharing its inspiring story and mission and allowing others to see the extent of its social impact. The organization's video tells the story of Shrity, a girl who, despite having to support her mother, happily goes to school to learn, to eat, and to someday fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher.
