Supporting LGBTQ Youth in Crisis

The Trevor Project has a mission to end LGBTQ youth suicide by supporting and advocating for them year-round. It operates free, confidential 24/7 services that allow LGBTQ young people to reach a highly trained crisis counselor via phone, text, or chat when they are struggling. In order to adequately prepare crisis counselors, The Trevor Project facilitates rigorous training to equip them to handle a wide range of challenges that an LGBTQ young person may reach out about, including bullying, abuse, suicidal ideation, struggles with their identity, and more.

Recently, The Trevor Project’s own John Callery — SVP of Technology and the very first technologist at The Trevor Project — presented at one of our TechSoup Public Good App House events. These TechSoup events feature technology developed for public benefit. He explained how their team uses Twilio Flex to offer their lifesaving services to young people. Watch his presentation and learn more about the Trevor Project below.
